| it's been a long time. i've been on vacation for 6 weeks... i go back to work on july 1. ugh. i planned most of my... errr... i mean OUR wedding (haha) in 1 week: booked the venue, the photographer, the dj, and the flowers. it helps that i've been researching wedding stuff for the past 6 years or so. i already knew exactly what i wanted.. so that helped expedite the process. deposits, deposits, deposits... i was not aware that many wedding vendors do not accept credit cards... cash only. who has $30,000+ in cash on them for a wedding?! crazy. vegas sounds good right now.

| i am officially on vacation! yay yay! friday novemeber 9 was my last day with my students. i won't see them again until january 7, 2008. hoooooray! so so happy. so so SO tired. =P so the update for my LAUSD payroll drama is that after saying i owe $14000, down to $7000, it's now $4000. they say that if i don't pay it back by 12/10... the overpayment will get reported to the IRS in my W-2. oh, and on top of that, they didn't provide me with any statement/proof that i was overpaid. so i'm just supposed to fork over $4000 and smile? grrrrrrrr.... angry. i was going to sub during my off-track time/vacation to make extra money so i can pay back my "debt." i was offered an intersession position (kinda like summer school). it's for 4 weeks, every day, 7:45 till 12:00.... and it pays time and a half. it sucks that i have to give up half my vacation, but i guess it's worth it to get rid of my "debt..." and i can't complain about the pay.
i'm going to las vegas this weekend to go see my auntie's new house. she bought a house in henderson, so we're all going to see it. should be fun. she doesn't have any furniture though... so i had to go buy a sleeping bag =P maybe i should have used the sleeping bag money to get a room on the strip? hahaha.
thanksgiving is coming!! can you believe it? the holidays are here. time goes by so fast.... it's crazy. what do ya'll have planned for thanksgiving? anyone know how to fry a turkey????

| this saturday, october 13th, will be the 1 year anniversary of my brain surgery. i can't believe how fast time goes by. every day has been a gift... the good, the bad, the stressful. i often remind myself to take a step back and remember what life is all about... and what's important. it's easy to get caught up in life and forget. so, i'm going out to dinner with my family to celebrate. unfortunately i will be missing out on my 10 year high school reunion. maybe i'll stop by. i can't believe it's been 10 years!
on a side note, there are 2 teaching positions open at my school. one is kinder, and the other is 5th grade. in april when we do the matrix, you'd get to choose a different grade level if you like, based on seniority. if you're interested, let me know (ahem, jen lew).

| this saturday i did the nike run! it was so much fun! there was so much positive energy... it was contagious! it was really funny, because they had you line up for the run according to your capability. they had signs for 3 minute mile, 5 minute mile, 7 minute mile, etc. at the very end they had a sign that said "not in a hurry." hahahahaha! it was so cute! that's where i needed to be =) i ended up in the middle with my coworker. they were counting down to when the horn was going to blow.... 5! 4! 3! 2! 1! GO!!!!! and your heart starts beating fast.... and then.... nothing. cuz you can't move yet till the people in front of you start running. kind of anti-climactic. so 5 minutes after the horn blows we start moving. it was a sea of red t-shirts all on the move. so as i'm coming up on mile number 2, i look to the left and see that this antelope disguised as a man is galloping in the other direction, on the other side of the road on his return trip to the finish line. what the heck!? craaaazy runners. everyone was clapping and cheering. i think 5 men passed by on the other side, and the 6th was a woman. everyone was clapping and cheering even louder when she passed by. haha! woman power! my coworker and i finished in about 1 hour and 10 minutes. the last mile almost killed me. i didn't know where we were going, and i couldn't see the finish line, so it was hard for me to keep running. but i did it! hooray! i was actually really proud of myself. it felt good to finish, and that i ran 95% of the time. i can't wait till next year! oh yeah, and when i saw mc hammer, i felt like i was in a time warp. 6th grade, acne, and puberty all came rushing back to me! hahaha! good times =)
